GLS France Tracking

GLS France is the French arm of General Logistics Systems, the European parcel network owned by Royal Mail Group. It runs its own national road network of regional agencies and sorting hubs, delivering business and consumer parcels across mainland France, Corsica and the overseas territories, and connecting them to the wider GLS network across Europe.

Deliveries go to the door, to a GLS Point Relais (ParcelShop), to a GLS locker, or to a neighbour through the carrier's own relay network. Every movement is filed against a GLS facility code, which Track91 resolves to the named agency behind it so you can see which branch is holding your parcel.

GLS France Services

The delivery options a French GLS parcel can travel under, and what each one means on your timeline.

Business Parcel

The standard next-working-day road service between French addresses, and the backbone of the domestic network. Parcels collected before the evening cut-off are sorted overnight at a regional hub and handed to the destination agency for the following day's round.

Point Relais (ParcelShop)

Delivery to one of the thousands of shops in the GLS France relay network. The parcel waits at the counter for a limited number of days and is collected with photo identification. Track91 shows the shop's name and street address once the parcel has arrived there.

GLS Locker

An automated parcel locker you open with a code sent by text message or email. The parcel is held for a set number of days before it returns to the depot. A locker delivery is filed under its own status, so it never looks like a doorstep handover on the timeline.

Collection at the agency

When a parcel cannot be delivered and no relay point is available, GLS holds it at the delivering agency for the recipient to collect in person with identification. Track91 names that agency, with its street address, postcode, town and phone number.

Neighbour delivery

If nobody is at the address, the driver may leave the parcel with a neighbour who has agreed to keep parcels for GLS. The timeline records this as a delivery to a third party rather than a delivery to you, and a card is left at the address.

European network

GLS France links into the wider GLS road network across Europe, so parcels move between France and neighbouring countries on the same network. A parcel crossing a non-EU border also picks up customs clearance steps on its way.

GLS France Tracking Number Format

A French GLS parcel can be looked up by either of two identifiers printed on the same label.

Parcel code — 8 characters

00AB12CD

Eight letters and digits, most often beginning with zero zero. This is the code the French tracking portal and dispatch emails quote, and the one most retailers pass on to their customers. It is not case sensitive.

Parcel number — 11 or 12 digits

12345678901

The GLS parcel number proper is eleven digits. Labels often print it with a twelfth check digit; both are accepted, and the parcel is identified by its first eleven digits either way. Spaces and hyphens in a pasted number are ignored.

Expected Delivery Times

Mainland France

One to two working days for a standard parcel handed over before the evening cut-off. GLS publishes an expected delivery day for most parcels, and Track91 shows it until a later scan overtakes it.

Corsica, overseas and cross-border

Add a working day or more for Corsica and several for the overseas territories. Parcels moving to or from another country run on the European GLS network, and a non-EU border adds customs clearance time that nobody can predict in advance.

GLS France Status Glossary

GLS France publishes short codes rather than sentences. These are the statuses you will see most often and what each one means for your parcel.

Informations sur le colis enregistrées

The sender has announced the parcel to GLS and a label exists, but GLS does not have the parcel yet. Nothing moves until the first agency scan.

Colis reçu en agence GLS

An agency has scanned the parcel in. The first such scan is GLS taking the parcel over; a later one is the destination agency receiving it before the delivery round.

Colis en transit

The parcel is moving between GLS facilities, either leaving the sending agency or passing through a regional sorting hub on its way to the destination.

Colis en cours de livraison

The parcel is on the van and out for delivery today. This is the last step before a delivery, a failed attempt or a reschedule is recorded.

Colis disponible en Point Relais ou consigne

The parcel is waiting at a GLS ParcelShop or locker for you to collect. This is not a delivery: a separate scan is filed once you pick it up.

Colis à retirer en agence GLS

The parcel is being held at the delivering agency for you to collect in person, with photo identification. Track91 names the agency and shows its address and phone number.

Livraison reportée

Delivery has been pushed to a later round. When the same code is filed on a delivery scan it means the attempt itself failed, and GLS sets a new date.

Colis livré

The parcel has been handed over. Where GLS records a signature, a safe place or a third party such as a neighbour, Track91 shows which of those it was.

Colis en cours de retour à l'expéditeur

The parcel could not be delivered or collected in time and is on its way back to the sender. Contact the retailer rather than GLS once this appears.

Incident sur le colis

Something has gone wrong with the parcel inside the GLS network. The code does not say whether it is damaged, delayed or mislaid, so ask the sender to open an enquiry.

Understanding these updates

Track91 provides live shipment status and real-time tracking updates through its carrier integrations. Results may be cached between updates, so check the carrier event timestamps when comparing progress. Track91 is independent of GLS France. Frequently Asked Questions

Help with GLS France tracking, delays and deliveries. Select a question to read the answer.

How do I track a GLS France parcel?

Enter the GLS France parcel number from your dispatch email, order confirmation or ParcelShop notice into the tracking field on Track91. The newest scan appears first, with the dated history below it and the GLS agency each scan was filed at. No account, login or recipient postcode is needed.

What is the GLS France tracking number format?

GLS France parcels usually carry an eight-character code of letters and digits beginning with zero zero, for example 00AB12CD. Labels also print the eleven-digit GLS parcel number, sometimes with a twelfth check digit. Any of these works on Track91; copy every character exactly as the label shows it.

How long does GLS France take to deliver a parcel?

A standard GLS France parcel handed over before the evening cut-off is normally delivered within one to two working days inside mainland France. Corsica, the overseas territories and parcels crossing a border take longer. GLS publishes an expected delivery day, which Track91 shows until a scan overtakes it.

What does colis disponible en Point Relais mean?

The parcel has reached the GLS ParcelShop chosen for it and is waiting there for you to collect. Track91 shows the shop name and street address alongside the status. The shop holds the parcel for a limited number of days before returning it to the sender, so collect it promptly and bring photo identification.

Why is my GLS France tracking not updating?

Every update depends on a new scan being filed against the parcel number. A sender can register a parcel days before handing it to GLS, and a parcel can sit at a sorting hub overnight with no scan in between. Compare the last scan time with the day the sender dispatched the parcel before raising an enquiry.

What does livraison reportée mean on GLS France tracking?

GLS has pushed the delivery to a later round. Most often the driver ran out of time or the address could not be served that day, and the parcel stays on the van or returns to the depot overnight. When the same code is filed on a delivery scan it means the attempt itself failed and a new date is set.

Can I track a GLS France parcel without a tracking number?

Not on Track91. The lookup needs the parcel number, because that is the only identifier the GLS France tracking service resolves. Check the dispatch email, the ParcelShop notice or your order history with the retailer. A recipient name, address or phone number cannot be used in its place.

What should I do if my GLS France parcel is delayed or missing?

Contact GLS France through its official customer service, or ask the retailer who shipped it to open an enquiry using the parcel number. Have the last scan, its time and the agency it names ready. The sender holds the transport contract, so a claim for a lost or damaged parcel usually has to come from them.

Why does my GLS France parcel show a depot instead of a street?

GLS files each scan against one of its own facility codes rather than a street address. Track91 resolves that code to the GLS agency behind it and shows its name, town and postcode, so you can see which branch handled the parcel. The recipient address itself is never published by the tracking service.

Is Track91 affiliated with GLS France?

No. Track91 is an independent tracking service and is not affiliated with GLS France, General Logistics Systems or any GLS national network. It shows the parcel information GLS France publishes for a number, for convenience. Redirections, ParcelShop changes, collection arrangements and claims must be handled by GLS or by the sender.
