Australia Post is the government-owned postal operator for Australia, carrying letters, Parcel Post and Express Post items through a national network of post offices, business centres, parcel lockers and sorting facilities, and handing international items to the destination country's own post. Its parcel-freight arm, StarTrack, moves business and express consignments on the same tracking platform.
Track91 reads the scans Australia Post publishes for your article and lays them out newest first, with each facility, the state or country it sits in and the time in its own clock. Keep the article ID and the sender's lodgement details together when you need to ask about a parcel. Australia Post tracking.
Knowing which service carried your item explains the journey the scans describe. Service availability, coverage and delivery estimates should be confirmed with Australia Post or the sender.
The standard domestic parcel service, lodged over the counter or with a prepaid satchel. Items move through state sorting facilities to a local delivery centre before the round.
The faster domestic option, targeting the next business day between addresses inside the Express Post network. Items lodged outside the network follow the air and road network instead.
Tracked letters, parcels and Express Courier International items leave Australia on a flight and are delivered by the destination country's own post, whose scans appear in the same history.
StarTrack handles business parcels, express freight and larger consignments for the group. Its consignment references resolve through the same tracking lookup as postal articles.
Parcels that cannot be handed over are held at a post office, business centre or 24/7 parcel locker. The awaiting-collection scan names the place and starts the collection period.
Letters travel the same network, and tracked-letter and registered products carry their own article ID so the lodgement and the delivery scan can be followed.
Australia Post prints several kinds of reference, and all of them are accepted on this page. The examples below are structural samples, not shipments you can track; your own identifier comes from the label, the lodgement receipt or the sender's dispatch email. Spaces and hyphens are optional.
Two letters, nine digits and the country code AU, as in AA123456789AU. International parcels, Express Courier International items and tracked letters use this form, and the C, E and L prefixes identify the product family.
A merchant location code, nine digits, a 000 block and six digits, optionally behind a two-digit prefix, as in 12ABC123456789000123456. Most domestic parcels booked online carry this barcode.
A 22-digit barcode beginning 00 to 03 and ending in a check digit, as in 0123456789012345678901. Prepaid satchels, envelopes and labels bought in store print this number.
A booking reference of 10 or 12 characters, as in A1B1234567, and StarTrack consignments of 12 characters with a Z in the fourth position, as in ABCZ12345678. A consignment can hold several parcels, each with its own article ID.
Parcel Post is quoted in business days according to the distance between the lodgement and delivery postcodes, while Express Post targets the next business day between addresses inside its network. International items are flown out of Australia and then handled by the destination country's post, so the remaining journey follows that country's own standards. The estimate given when the item was booked is the right benchmark for judging progress.
Gaps in the history are normal. A label can be created days before the item is lodged, interstate line haul often runs overnight with no intermediate scan, and an item handed to an overseas post can stay quiet until that post publishes its first scan. Read the latest scan and its location before concluding that a parcel has stopped moving.
For redirections, safe-place instructions, collection arrangements, missing items or compensation, contact Australia Post through its official channels, or ask the sender to lodge the enquiry since they hold the lodgement record. Have the article ID, the destination and the last published scan ready. Track91 provides independent tracking information and cannot change how a parcel is delivered.
Visit the Australia Post tracking pageTrack91 provides live shipment status and real-time tracking updates through its carrier integrations. Results may be cached between updates, so check the carrier event timestamps when comparing progress. Track91 is independent of Australia Post. Enter the article ID or barcode printed on the label, the lodgement receipt or the sender's dispatch email into the Australia Post tracking field on Track91. The latest published scan appears first, with the dated history below it. A consignment number returns the articles filed under it.
International and tracked-letter items use 13 characters ending in AU, such as AA123456789AU. Domestic parcels carry a longer article barcode of 21 to 23 digits and letters, such as 12ABC123456789000123456. Prepaid satchels print a 22-digit barcode and StarTrack consignments a 12-character reference such as ABCZ12345678.
A consignment is the booking and an article is one parcel inside it. A consignment with a single parcel tracks that parcel. A consignment holding several parcels can show them at different points of the journey, so tracking the individual article ID gives the clearest history for the item you are waiting for.
Parcel Post is quoted in business days by distance, while Express Post targets the next business day between metropolitan areas on its network. International items leave Australia on a flight and are then handled by the destination post, so the arrival depends on that country. A scan records a step already taken, not a promise about the next one.
Updates appear only when a new scan is published. A label can be created days before lodgement, line haul between states can run overnight without an intermediate scan, and an item handed to an overseas post may go quiet until that post reports it. Compare the last scan with the service the sender booked before raising an enquiry.
The parcel is waiting for you at a post office, business centre or parcel locker, and the scan names the place. It is not delivered yet. Bring identification and the card or notice within the collection period shown, because an uncollected item is eventually returned to the sender.
The delivery driver judged the address safe and left the parcel there rather than taking it back to a post office. The scan completes the delivery. Check porches, letterboxes, side gates and with others at the address, and contact Australia Post if the parcel cannot be found.
No. Track91 needs the article ID, consignment number or barcode for this lookup. Check the lodgement receipt, the label, the dispatch email or the sender's account. A recipient name, street address or order number cannot be used in place of the tracking identifier.
Contact Australia Post through its official support channels, or ask the sender to lodge the enquiry, since the sender holds the lodgement record. Have the article ID, the destination and the last published scan ready. Track91 cannot open an investigation or redirect a parcel on your behalf.
Yes. StarTrack is part of the Australia Post group and its consignment references resolve through the same tracking lookup, so a 12-character StarTrack reference such as ABCZ12345678 can be entered on this page. The published scans are the carrier's own.
No. Track91 is an independent tracking service and is not affiliated with Australia Post or StarTrack. It displays the shipment information the carrier publishes, for convenience. Delivery instructions, redirections, collection arrangements and claims must be handled by Australia Post or the sender.
