EMS (Express Mail Service) is the premium express service of the world's postal operators, coordinated by the Universal Postal Union's EMS Cooperative across 190+ countries. EMS items are handed between the origin post, export customs, international transport, import customs, and the destination post. Here is what the common statuses mean.
The item is posted at the origin post office, arrives at the export office, and is presented to and released from export customs and security before leaving the country.
On arrival at the destination country's import office, the item is presented to customs. It may be held for inspection before being released for onward delivery.
The destination postal service moves the item through sorting centers to the post office that serves your address.
A postal carrier takes the item out for delivery and it is delivered to the recipient's address.
EMS numbers are exactly 13 characters: the letter "E" plus one more letter, nine digits, and a two-letter code for the origin country (for example KR for South Korea, IN for India, JP for Japan).

EMS is the international express service offered jointly by national postal operators (India Post, Korea Post, Japan Post, USPS, and others) under the Universal Postal Union. Your item is carried by the origin country's post until export, then delivered by the destination country's post.
The number you entered is a valid postal tracking number, but it belongs to a different postal product (such as registered mail or a parcel), not EMS. Track it on the origin postal operator's own website instead.
Import customs may open a shipment for routine checks or to assess duties and taxes. Most items are released within a few days; if documents or payment are needed, the destination post will contact the recipient.
EMS scan times are recorded in the local time of the country where each event happened — a "Posted" scan in Seoul is Korean time, while the "Delivered" scan in Chennai is Indian time.
